APPLEDORE VISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL 2008

May 29th
to
June 1st

CALL FOR CRAFT STALLS & ARTISTS TRAIL

Information on the Festival :

The Appledore Visual Arts Festival is one of the UK’s leading Visual Arts Festivals. It has a strong reputation for top quality artists, exhibitions, events and workshops. The Festival is held in a stunning estuary location and attracts several thousand visitors from all over Devon, the South West and the UK.

Craft Stalls : Artists are invited to book a stall space to either sell their crafts and / or demonstrate their crafts in the making. All crafts should be made by the exhibitor; please note that “bought in” crafts are not acceptable. We will only accept applications from artists and makers who exclusively sell their own work.

The majority of stalls are outside however there are also a limited number of indoor spaces available. The outdoor stalls are placed on Appledore Quay in the middle of the Festival activities. The indoor space is located in one of the Festival venues and will also receive a regular stream of visitors.

Artists Trail : Crafts people are also invited to apply for a limited number of spaces on our Artists Trail. The Artists Trail will give selected artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in a ground level room in a house belonging to an Appledore resident. The Artists Trail will be promoted using a map of Appledore. The map will also promote the Open Gardens which are a popular feature of the Festival as visitors wander the streets of Appledore exploring hidden streets and private gardens. The Artists Trail is a new addition to our programme of events and we anticipate that it will be popular.

All Craft Stall and Artists Trail exhibitors are expected to provide their own tables, equipment and weather covers (if located outdoors). Power will only be available for indoor stalls. Selected exhibitors are responsible for staffing their stalls and exhibits. Preference is given to stall holders and exhibitors who are able to show their work throughout the duration of the 4-day Festival. Artists who can only exhibit for fewer days will also be considered.
