Kim Bailey
Coastal Stories & Memories
The 2010 Appledore Arts Fellowship has been
awarded to mature student, Kim Bailey who is completing a foundation degree in
Fine Art at the Petroc school of Art, Barnstaple.
Kim, from Westward Ho!, has lived by the sea for many years and feels a very
close connection to her local coastal environments. In the lead up to this years
Festival, Kim aims to produce artwork with people from the local communities.
The work will be exhibited during the Festival.
Your Memories : Kim is currently seeking people to provide her with their
coastal stories and memories. She is particularly interested in recording
peoples memories, she would also love to receive images and photographs which
represent peoples individual memories of North Devon’s coastline. Your memories
can include all sorts of subjects; coastal wildlife, local coastal history,
surfing tales or anything relating to the coast would be most welcome.
Easter Workshop: As part of her community art project, Kim will be running a
free, drop in, printmaking workshop during the Easter holidays, on Friday April
9th at St Marys Church Hall, Appledore 10am–3pm. Anyone can come along and
produce handmade prints, with a coastline theme, which may be exhibited during
the Festival. All materials will be provided, please bring an apron or overall.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The
workshop will be attended by a group of volunteer art students from Petroc
